A tutorial to show how I make a page for Lancaster the Ghost Detective. Done partially because I wanted to do it, and done partially to help NightGig fill out its' empty, empty tutorials page.

Hopefully some of you can find this useful in your own comicking. I like to entertain as well as inform.

Okay, I did that. Nice tutorial man! That's really helpful. It makes comic-making easy and fun! You're a good drawer too!

I've been conducting up my own experimentally formatted webcomic called the Nottingham Freedom Fighters. I used to go weekly, but the last time I updated the strip was like, 7 months ago!!! I've been preparing the next update during that time but it's been really slow for me cause I bet it's the inking process that I mess up on. After reading your tutorial I think my mistakes are either down to working too fast on my drawing, the scale of drawing I'm working on (5 12x2 frames on A4), or the fact that I'm using a 0.5 Uni-Ball Eye gel pen for inking.

Ah so thats how you make a coolio page of your Rocking Awsome Comic eh? A tutorial like this is uber helpful to me cus I suck so bad at making comics ^_^; allthough my problem is probably drawing with an ink pen straight away instead of using pencil guide lines :hmm: Well good job anyway :D handy tutorial

I used to do that too, until I found that the quality of the drawing increased dramatically by using pencil guides :D

If I had to pick one, it'd probably because you were inking too fast. I find that creates an overall sloppy drawing, and while I like to work fast(I can get a page done in about an hour and a half at most), inking is something you really have to take your time on if you want it to look good.

Of course, if you want a rought, sketchy look, wail away, my friend :D

I think I agree with you, patience and all. If I'm careful with my outlining, it gets a little harder, cause the outlining tends to be thicker and spills a bit. That shouldn't stop me experimenting with different other pens and stuff. Thanks for that, pal! After all, I should have known that I'm always improving.

These are good pointers! it should really help everyone who reads it :D

and just reduce the shoddiness of their comics (I need to use rulers more)
