Artist's Comments

had mentioned something about being unclear about Slicing in one of her (awesome) Journals, and that buried the seed for this little tutorial. Luckily I didn't have anything too pressing to do this afternoon, so I whipped it together real quick like.

If you're a moderate -> advanced user of Photochop, ImageReady, or have designed at least two website layouts using either, you probably won't get a lot of information out of this tutorial that you didn't already know. But this one's for the people who've not picked up the Slice tool yet, or don't know much about how to Slice up a layout.

I don't go into how to design a website, or how to tweak the HTML for your liking (though I might in a future tutorial), this is just all Slicing and ImageReady, folks. Enjoy, and be careful: massive filesize ahoy!

Let's say I have lots of html files with the same script responsible for listing the contents. If I added a new content, that would mean I would have to add the extension script onto each page individually.

That's the big problem that I'm facing in web designing at the moment. Will you be teaching us how to conquer that eventually?

That depends on what type of file you're talking about that contains the script.

;A;!

Graagh, this helps a lot...thanks for all your time and patience explaining this, I shall most definitely refer to this a lot. :P

The only major problem I was encountering is because the content areas of my website are just block colours...I didn't know how to get around displaying them as expanding content boxes rather than background images. but I guess I just have to code that bit manually. P;

But yaargh, again - thanks for the help, Awesome Tutorial Get~! :dance:

That's another problem! What file types can you overcome this with? Is it possible to overcome this problem in html? If not, what file type would you recommend?

nice tutorial! I remember trying to learning how to use the slice tool but the person teaching it kept having a bad habit of saying "uhhhh" every 2 seconds...

But this really clarifies things! Thanks so much! :w00t:
