Listening to: Chrono Trigger - Calamitous Judgement
Watching: GRR MONSTER HOUSE SMASH
So today, I went to see Monster House. Sure, like pretty much everyone else I knew, I thought it looked really lame, based on the previews. Seriously, another CG movie? That doesn't make me a happy camper. But then I kept hearing about how good it was from previews and stuff like that, so I figure, hey, why not. And just for fun, I went to see it in 3D. Because 3D movies are fun. They don't add much, sure. But if you're gonna choose between two sundaes, and one of them has a cherry on top, you kinda want the cherry, right?
Now, I'd like to state before I start my semi-review that, no matter what I say about this movie, you will almost probably go see it. If you're anything like me, you will definitely go see it. There's something that shows in front of the movie that you simply have to see, because it's so awesome, you probably won't believe it otherwise. Of course, to drag out the awesomeness, I'll tell you at the end
So, Monster House. Overall, I thought it was an okay movie. Of course, it falls into the same traps that any other non-Pixar CG movie falls into, which is it looks CGI. I mean, it really shows. It almost seems like the technology and animation used is about a step or two behind everyone else, in that the movie is stilty animated, and almost looks like it's in stop motion instead of being a CG movie. Ironically, some of the best animation in the movie is on the monster house itself.
Animation gripes aside, they really have their grass rendering down pat. While a good chunk of the animation isn't that great, the story and dialogue help Monster House keep from leaving a bad taste in my mouth. If Monster House had been tackled by someone like Pixar, Blue Sky or Dreamworks(come ON, it's a Steven Spielberg company, WTF), it would have been an outstanding movie. As it is though, Monster House is just pretty okay.
Now, for that big special awesome thing I told you about. You know, the hting that you'll go and see Monster House for regardless? Well, before the movie, there was an awesome trailer. Really awesome trailer. Now hold on to your hats, because you're going to love this, and especially those of us who loved it back when it originally came out in 93. This fall (October 20th, to be a bit more precise), Disney will be re-releasing The Nightmare Before Christmas into theatres. Yes indeedy, but that's not all. The movie will be remastered and released in 3D as well!
You didn't even stay to read the end of that paragraph, did you?

I'd like to see Ant Bully. I don't know why, but that looks pretty enjoyable.

I was the only kid who liked that movie when I was little. I was one when it was actually out in theaters and I have only seen it one video but now I can get to go see it in theaters!!! I can't wait for October now, despite school.

But yeah, I did like Monster House. Seriously, that was one awesome house. XD Both my friend and I kept agreeing on that the whole time (quietly of course, what with being in a theater).
